Josh Smith

Bio:Josh Smith obtained his BSc in Chemistry at Northeastern University where he had the opportunity to undergo interships at GlaxoSmithKline in Boston, MA and Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, working in the lab of Professor William Hancock. This work focused on the proteomic analysis of human colorectal cancer (HCC) cell lines utilizing shotgun proteomics, but also involved some work identifying N- and O-glycans in HCC cell lines in collaboration with the Nicki Packer's group. Josh continued his research with Professor Hancock back at Northeastern University while completing his BSc in Chemistry and then stayed on as a Research Assistant in the lab, focusing on the identification of candidate cancer biomarkers from human plasma and serum. After a short stint as a Lab Technician at Ariad Pharmaceuticals, Josh joined on as an Early Stage Researcher (ESR)at the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) where he is currently part of the Marie Curie GastoGlycoExplorer ITN. He is concurrently pursuing a PhD through Trinity College Dublin as part of his ESR role at NIBRT.
